Launching in September 2019 Sussex Bears Wheelchair Basketball team is proud to be partnering up with Collyer’s and Horsham Council to run taster sessions in wheelchair basketball…

The Collyer’s college offers a fully accessible venue that is already used by other inclusive sports is situated in a perfect location – right opposite Horsham hospital so this is perfect to run a few wheelchair basketball sessions that we can promote through the hospitals out patient and physiotherapy departments…

Horsham District Council Sports Department are backing the partnership that we hope can identify new talent for the league teams, development teams, and possible collage wheelchair basketball teams…

Paul Taylor from the sports department has been keen to set up wheelchair basketball here in Horsham as wheelchair basketball is not only a huge Paralympic sport and acts as an entry to other sports, but has so many physical and mental benefits from the grass roots of the sport to those playing in competitive leagues.

John Burroughs from Collyer’s has been in talks with Ricky from Sussex Bears since they delivered a wheelchair basketball session here as part of the Bears on the Road promotion, With the Sussex Bears based just south of Horsham in Lancing we can run taster sessions or college sessions here in the same way they do at the Universities in Brighton…
