How can get more medical professionals to send people with a disability or a long term health condition to try some disability sports?

If we can get medical professionals to play disability sports and see the impact it has at a disability awareness day, it is a day you won’t forget, hearing real life stories about playing disability sports impacts on someones life and then learning where these clubs and sports operate in relation to your medical practices, so the next time you meet someone with a disability you not only have the answers, you only have the experience…

The events will be a fun way to engage the medical professionals, we have the sports wheelchairs for you to use, meet members of the wheelchair basketball team and hear stories of how playing sports has impacted their lives.

Plus after learning some basic wheelchair basketball skills you get to take on your medical counterparts from other areas of the city for the bragging rights and knowledge that your medical practice is not only disability aware but also disability experienced.

Afterwards you will be given details of the local disability sports clubs, groups and offers to aid your social prescribing.

In April 2019 we gave a talk at the Brighton and Sussex medical University to all the newly Qualified GPs and then delivered a take park session of wheelchair basketball and blind football, an event that was the first of its kind. filmed below for ITV.
